Parents
Overview
The SacredTable initiative by NFCYM seeks to strengthen the domestic church by uniting it with parish ministry through encounter, dialogue, and collaboration.
Recognizing today’s shifting cultural landscape, the initiative takes a three-pronged approach: training parish leaders in generative listening and strategic planning, inspiring parents to engage with parish leaders, and fostering dialogue with U.S. Catholic bishops through a Champion Bishop and Advisory Council.

Empowering Parents to Nurture Lifelong Faith
- Now more than ever, families are facing a crisis of passing on the Catholic faith to the next generation. Recent research shows that 85% of kids raised Catholic will not practice their faith as adults.
- Sometimes parents do not feel equipped enough to form and support their children to grow in their faith lives, but their influence on their children’s emotional and spiritual development cannot be overstated.
- Parents are called to nurture faith within the family unit, not merely as a religious duty but as a profound calling to cultivate a vibrant, enduring faith that transcends generations. Your parish leaders are here to support you!
A New Path for Family Faith Formation
SacredTable stands at the forefront of empowering families to foster faith at home. By offering opportunities for dialogue and engagement, SacredTable seeks to build supportive relationships between parents and ministry leaders. This initiative aims to identify families’ needs and offer resources to cultivate homes where faith is not only taught but lived—a transformative approach to building a lasting faith legacy.
Conversations that Cultivate Faith
Parents are invited to attend the listening sessions hosted at selected pilot parishes. These conversations can occur in various settings, such as one-on-one, in small groups, or in large groups. The listening sessions aim to open dialogue and call parish leaders and parents to fruitful partnerships in forming the faith of children and identify ways to better collaborate in this mission.
Be the Bridge
If your parish is not hosting a listening session, here are ways to share information about SacredTable with your parish staff:
